Welcome to Paragon Cairns!  We established our "kennel" in 1989 with the purchase of our first cairn, Diamond in the Ruff - "Beans".   She did not think much of the show ring, but did give us our first home bred champion in 1992.  It was difficult to come up with a kennel name because you want it to be just right.  A friend, who is a very book smart lady, came up with several words that she gathered from the dictionary on recipe cards with their definitions.  Paragon it was!  The meaning, "a model of excellence or perfection of a kind" was just what I had in mind.  My goal was to breed the very best cairn I could, my model of perfection.  Using information available to me along with input from long time breeders and my sense of what I felt was sound, attractive, spirited, loving and an intelligent little dog.  I am still striving to do the same.
