Paragon Cairns
We breed our dogs only when the time is right in our lives, where we are ready to bring another puppy into our home and have the time to devote to the litter when it is born. We breed for conformation AND temperament. Our puppies are whelped in the kitchen and then move to the living room once they are weaned. Our puppies are placed with the understanding the puppy is a family companion.
When the puppies are young they are evaluated to be show prospects. Not all puppies are for show. These puppies would rather be a family companion and romp with their family.
We require certain things from our puppy homes.
The puppy must live in the house and be part of the family. This is an important part of socialization and being comfortable in different settings. Obedience training might be an option, they love to please their owners and it is fun!
The puppy must have a fenced yard in order to run and play. They are very good at chasing "critters" and forget what is going on in the rest of the world.
We feel strongly that the puppy is crate trained. Crating a puppy is not a bad thing or form of punishment. It provides a safe environment. Remember, they are "den-like" animals. It also helps in housebreaking and while you are away, you know they are not tearing up the house. The crate should be used for napping, traveling and overnight sleep. Please do not close them up for very long periods of time. A puppy should be taken outside every two hours, after they eat, and especially after they play. As they grow, they will be able to wait for longer periods of time.
Our commitment to the breed is the welfare of the puppy and matching the personalities of the puppy with their new family.
